No person, or organization can be truly successful unless they are helping others.
At the core of World Interplay is a fundamental belief that our world can be a better place if there is widespread knowledge and acceptance of simple, yet highly effective critical thinking skills. The term "world, " can have many meanings, such as:
- The world you live in
- The world of your business or other organization
- The world of your family, friends, etc.
- The world of your philosophical, or spiritual self
- The interplay of these worlds
World Interplay was formed to help individuals and organizations by teaching certain simple, yet highly effective critical thinking skills. Foremost of these skills is a technique called "Causal Thinking." This is when one begins to see the world in terms of causes and effects vs. a sequence of events that just "happen."
These critical thinking skills are not mathematical or highly technical. They can be easily learned by virtually anybody. They are particularly effective for organizations and businesses wishing to increase safety, reduce errors, and reduce costs.
In educational theory, there is a term called Unconscious Incompetence. Put simply, you don't know what you don't know. Most of us don't detect shortcomings in our thinking skills until there is a problem (accident, injury, missed connection, late payment, lost keys, etc.). Typically, most of us need to see the identical problem recur several times before we become aware that our problem solving skills are inadequate. Hopefully, it is at this point that we are elevated to the level of Conscious Incompetence - we do know what we don't know. While this realization is not particularly enjoyable, it is an important step and a definite sign of progress. (Hopefully, this step has led you to this web site.)
Now...reconsider the entire paragraph above, but apply it to your business or organization. For organizations, chronic difficulties in detecting and processing information is manifested in recurring problems. Consider defective or late shipments, lost customers, accidents, rework, repair, scrap. How and when does the organization come to realize that it may have difficulties solving problems? If you are using ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or any other closed loop quality control system, you are probably already detecting recurring problems, but you may not be adequately solving them. In other words, you may not have detected the underlying causal and systemic issues.
To be honest, it is fairly difficult to market services involving effective problem solving because so few people or organizations recognize they have a problem, and even fewer know there is a solution. This is where World Interplay is making a difference.
World Interplay was formed to help educate individuals and organizations enhance their critical thinking skills.
The first part of the education comes from evangelizing the concepts of causal thinking, effective problem solving, and the importance of these skills to succeed. The evangelization occurs through various venues, including this web site.
Based on the strategy outlined above, the enhancement of critical thinking skills is be done through teaching effective problem solving skills. Based on it's proven effectiveness, World Interplay's services involve training and consulting using the Apollo Root Cause Analysis methods. This includes use of the companion RealityCharting® Software.
