YOU MUST HAVE ADMIN RIGHTS FOR ALL INSTALLATIONS
 If you aren't sure whether you have admin rights, you are not qualified to install or reinstall the software.  Provide a copy or a link to this page to your IT department. 
Attempting installation without admin rights may "act" like it installed, but the software may not work properly.

Choose your Option.  The latest version is now v5.  Version 3.x and 4.x are considered legacy versions


Option 1: Free Upgrade from RealityCharting® v4 to v5

  • If you have v4.1 installed, make sure your Auto-Update Notification is turned on in the RealityCharting-Preferences menu.  Then, start the software while you are connected to the internet and you should see a message for a free update.

  • If you have v4.0 installed, you will not receive a notification regardless of whether you checked your auto-update notification.  Use the instructions in item D below.

  • If you have v3.x installed or have a v3.x license and it's not installed, you must purchase the upgrade.  See Option 2 below.

  • If you have a license for v4.0 or v4.1 but don't currently have it installed, download the demo per Option 3 below, then use your version 4.x license to activate it.  Ignore the email you will receive with a temporary activation code.

Option 2: Purchase an upgrade from Version 3 to Version 5  (This upgrade offer ended April 7, 2011)
 


Option 3: Free 30 Day Demonstration Copy of RealityCharting® version 5.0

  • Using the link below, after entering and submitting your information, you will be directed to a page that allows you to install the software. 
  • After you start the software, it will ask for a key.  You will receive an email containing a demo key.  Use this to activate your software for 30 days.

Option 4: Install or Reinstall Legacy Version 4.1
  • We recommend installing version 5.  If your IT department has not approved version 5 and you are only allowed to update to version 4.1, see the instructions below.
  • First make sure you have admin rights.
  • Download and install Adobe AIR from www.adobe.com
  • Download and save this .zip file, unzip it, then run the .air file to install RealityCharting v4.1:  RealityCharting v4.1 Installation .zip File
  • After you install it, activate it with your RCv4.x license.  A RCv3.x license will not activate this.

Option 5: Special Instructions for Version 4.0 Users

  • Because of some special installation requirements, Version 4.0 will not notify you of an update availability

  • You must uninstall Version 4.0 before installing either version 4.1 or version 5.0

Notes on RealityCharting® version 3, 4 and 5 compatibility

Version Version 3 Version 4.0 and 4.1 and 5.0
File extension .rca ,arca
Can open file types .rca, not .arca (4.x*) .rca (version 3) and .arca (version 4)
Can save to file type .rca, not .arca (4.x) .arca only
(If you open a .rca (version 3) file and save it, it will be converted to an .arca (version 4) file and cannot be converted back into a version 3 file

* If you are using version 3.x and you try to open a version 4.x file, you will get the following message:

The message is incorrect and should read:  "RealityCharting Version 3.x cannot open V4.x files.  To open this file, upgrade your RealityCharting
at http://www.realitycharting.com/realitycharting/purchase"
